England qualified for the round of 16 on Monday night without kicking a ball.
Spain's victory over Albania last night meant that England are guaranteed a place in the knockout stages regardless of the outcome of their final Group D fixture against Slovenia tonight.
Luis de la Fuente's sides victory meant guaranteed that England would be one of the four best-placed third teams should they finish outside the top two of their group.
Southgate's men currently sit on four points at the top of the group after a win over Serbia in their opening fixture a 1-1 draw with Demark.
However, the Three Lions have everything to prove after coming under heavy criticism for their lacklustre performances thus far.
The result of their game tonight will dictate where England will finish in the group and who they will face in the round-of-16.

Who will England play in the round of 16?
Depending on where England finish in their group there are three possible outcomes for who they might face in the round of 16 of Euro 2024.
If England win their group, which requires them to beat Slovenia or draw and rely on a Denmark loss or draw then they will head to Gelsenkirchen on Sunday to face the third-placed team from either Group D, E or F.
If England finish second, which requires them to draw and Denmark to win their game or Slovenia to beat England and Denmark to draw or lose, then England would face the hosts of the tournament, Germany.
If Slovenia beat England and Denmark beat Serbia then England would finish third which would mean they would face either Group F winners Portugal in Frankfurt on July 1 or the yet-to-be-decided winners of Group E in Munich the following day.
| England Group C Finish | Best Odds | Potential Opponents |
|---|---|---|
| First | 1/6 - Spreadex | Third from either Group D, E or F |

England Euro 2024 route to the Final
Quarter-finals
If England win their group (86% implied chance at odds of 1/6) and beat their opponents in the round of 16, then they would face the winners of Saturday's round-of-16 clash between Switzerland and Italy in Berlin.
This sets up the possibility of a rematch of the 2020 final.
If they finish runners up in Group C, and beat Germany then they would await the outcome of the round-of-16 clash between Spain and the third from either groups A,D,E or F in the quarter-finals.
Semi-finals
If England win their group, they could face the winner of the third quarter-final (possibly France or Belgium)
If England finish runners up they could face the winner of third round-of-16 match (likely winner of Group B - possibly Spain, Italy or Croatia)
Finals
If England win their group they could face the winner of first semi-final (possibly Germany, Spain or Portugal)
If England finish second in their group they could face the winner of second quarter-final (possibly Portugal or Netherlands)
