Next Manager Sacked Odds: Who will be the next Premier League manager to go?

Who will follow Steve Cooper in the Premier League sack race?

The Premier League is renowned for its intense competition and high standards. With lofty expectations from both owners and fans, falling short can swiftly lead to dismissal. A streak of poor form is often enough to see a manager shown the door and replaced.

Last season, managers Steve Cooper, Paul Heckingbottom, and Roy Hodgson learned this the hard way as they were relieved of their duties mid-season.

In total, there were 11 managerial changes last season, including caretaker managers, and a staggering 32 the season before that.

After the Foxes opted to relieve Steve Cooper of his duties (click here to read more) the Englishman became the second manager to be sacked after ten Hag's departure from Man United.

Attention now turns to who could follow the Englishman out the door with a number of candidates under growing pressure.

Let's take a look at who the bookmakers believe are the most likely to leave their post next in the Premier League.

Julen lopetegui - West Ham

Julen Lopetegui’s tenure at West Ham has hit an early stumbling block, with the Spaniard now at the top of the betting to be the next Premier League manager dismissed.

After a hefty summer spending with an outlay of £132 million, the club’s dismal form—marked by only three wins in their last 12 matches—has cast doubt on his future.

The Hammers faithful, hopeful for a fresh start after David Moyes’ departure, are growing increasingly restless as Lepetegui continues to struggle to secure consistent points for the club.

While Lopetegui arrived with a solid reputation from his time at Sevilla and Wolves, expectations have quickly soured as results fail to meet the club’s ambitions, leaving him under mounting pressure to turn things around swiftly.

They're recent 5-2 dismantling by Arsenal at home has left Hammers fans calling for the Spaniard to be sacked already.

His next two games against fellow sides at the bottom of the table will be crucial in deciding his fate.

Russell Martin - Southampton

Southampton manager Russell Martin is one of the top candidates to be the first Premier League manager sacked this season despite finding some form, picking up their first win of the campaign recently in gameweek 10 and securing a draw against a very solid Brighton side most recently.

The Saints, who sit bottom of the table with just five points, have also conceded 25 goals in the league - the third most.

They were on a four game losing streak before their victory over Everton, which included a loss to fellow relegation contenders, Leicester, and they haven't won since.

Gary O'Neil

Wolves Manager Gary O'Neil's last minute heartbreaking loss to Man City in game week 8, though disheartening, marked the beginning of an upturn in form for his side.

They have since gone on to draw two, win two and lose one game.

Their recent loss against Bournemouth in gameweek 13 ended a streak of four games without a loss and showed that perhaps their defensive woes were not quite behind them when conceding four.

They have lost eight of their 13 games this season and are second bottom of the table with just six points.

If O'Neil can't sort out their defensive frailties (32 goals conceded) soon then his job could be on the line.

Premier League Managers - Who has left their post already?

Erik ten Hag - Man United

Pressure began to mount on Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag after a poor start to the season, marked by back-to-back 3-0 Premier League losses at Old Trafford to Liverpool and Spurs.

United then went on a five-game winless streak across all competitions, finally managing a win against Brentford in gameweek eight. However, their struggles continued, and a 2-1 defeat to West Ham in gameweek nine proved the final straw, leading to the Dutchman’s dismissal shortly after.

At the time of his departure, United sat in 14th place—marking their worst start to a Premier League campaign. The team had only managed to score eight goals, a tally surpassed by nearly every other club.

Their issues with finishing were evident, as they had the largest gap between Expected Goals (xG) and actual goals scored, managing just one win in their last eight matches across all competitions.

Portuguese tactician Ruben Amorim has since taken over at Man United.

Steve Cooper - Leicester

After losing Enzo Maresca to Chelsea, Leicester were compelled to find a replacement for the season. With limited options available, they ultimately chose Steve Cooper.

The 44-year-old Cooper was sacked by Nottingham Forest in December last season after a string of five consecutive losses left Forest in 17th place.

Despite this setback, the Englishman was given a second chance with the Foxes, who were the big the pre-season favourites for relegation.

However, a 2-1 home loss to Chelsea on gameweek 12 proved to be the straw that broke the camel’s back for Leicester and Cooper was relieved of his duties on Sunday (November 24th) evening.

He leaves the club two points above the drop zone having collected two wins from the opening 12 matches.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy has since taken over at the King Power Stadium following his short stint in charge as caretaker manater at Man United.
