The favourite in the next Preston manager odds market is now odds on to replace Ryan Lowe at Deepdale.
Preston North End were shortened from 4/1 into 10/3 to be relegated after the first match of the Championship season, the 125th and final match in charge for Ryan Lowe.
Lowe had led the side to 13th, 12th and 10th place finishes since taking the job in December 2021, immediately after leaving Plymouth Argyle.
His team were beaten 2-0 at home to Sheffield United (now 16/1 best price to win the Championship) in one of the Championship curtain-raisers on Friday night.

Who is favourite to be next Preston manager?
Crawley Town manager Scott Lindsey has emerged as the new bookmakers' favourite to replace Ryan Lowe as Preston manager, displacing the early market leader David Moyes.
Lindsey (10/11 on Sky Bet) kept Crawley in League Two after being appointed in January 2023 before leading the club to promotion back to League One last season via the playoffs.
Moyes, meanwhile, is now as big as 8/1 on BetVictor. The Scot, who left West Ham this summer after a second spell with the club, spent over four years in charge at Preston from January 1998 to March 2022 - winning just short of 50% of his 234 matches.
Paul Heckingbottom (6/1) remains a rival to Lindsey and Moyes in the next Preston manager odds market. Heckingbottom left Sheffield United in December of last year with the club marooned at the bottom of the Premier League table.
However, he had led the Blades back to the top flight as runners up in 2022/23 Championship table. He also has a League One Playoff title and Football League Trophy on his CV with Barnsley from the 2015/2016 season.
One of the other early contenders, Alex Neil, has now slipped to 14/1. Like Heckingbottom, Neil has been out of work since December 2023 when he was sacked with the club in 20th place in the Championship.

David Moyes is an 8/1 chance to become to return as Preston manager despite not managing outside of the top flight since leaving the club the first time in 2002.
During his first spell with the club, he secured promotion to the old First Division (now the Championship) in 2000. He also won the Community Shield during his ill-fated spell at Old Trafford.
More recently, Moyes led West Ham to the club's first major trophy in more than 40 years after beating Fiorentina in the 2022/23 Europa Conference League final.
