Premier League Fixtures 24/25: Who plays who on the opening weekend?

We are just a few days away from the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

When does the Premier League start?

The 2024/25 Premier League gets underway on Friday 16th August as Erik ten Hag’s Man United welcome Fulham to Old Trafford.

Man United vs Fulham

The opening game of the season sees the Red Devils take on Fulham at Old Trafford. After consecutive seasons of relegation and promotion, Fulham enjoy their third season in a row in the Premier League and will be keen to solidify this new founded stability even further.

Manchester United have gone through a sort of reformation with Jim Ratcliffe and Dan Ashworth coming into the club. A clear out of some players like Varane and Wan Bissaka is also accompanied by an influx of impressive signings, the most recent of which is Bayern Munich's De Ligt.

United are 28/1 to lift the title this season and are 21/10 for the top four. Fulham are a best priced 6/1 for relegation.

Saturday Premier League Fixtures this Weekend

Ipswich vs Liverpool

Premier League newcomers Ipswich town are thrown into the deep end in Gameweek 1 as they host title chasing Liverpool at home. Saturday's trip is the first league game in Liverpool's post Klopp era with new manager Arne Slot taking charge.

The Tractor Boys are 10/11 second favourites to go straight back down. Conversely, Liverpool are 7/1 to win the league and 4/7 to finish in the top four again.

Arsenal vs Wolves

Runner up two years in a row, will it be Arsenal's year? They have strengthened again in defence with Riccardo Calafiori coming in with the Gunners also confirming the signing of David Raya from Brentford. Wolves have rewarded Gary O'Neil with a new deal but have recently had the blow of losing star player Pedro Neto to Chelsea.

Arsenal are 19/10 second favourites to win the league whilst they are a short priced 1/4 for a Champions League spot. Wolves are a best priced 4/1 to go down.

Everton vs Brighton

Sean Dyche has steadied the ship at Goodison Park and even overcame a points deduction last year to guide the Toffees to safety. The same objective will surely be in play.

Brighton have appointed the youngest ever manager of a Premier League team in 31-year-old Fabian Hurzeler and will be hoping the appointment pays off.

Everton are 11/4 to be relegated this season whilst Brighton are as big as 20/1 to go down. Conversely, Brighton are evens to record a top half finish, something they failed to do last year by just a single point.

Newcastle vs Southampton

After securing Champions League football two years ago, last year was a slight drop off for Newcastle United. With the additional European fixtures, however, as well as several injuries and a season long ban to record signing Sandro Tonali, there were many reasonable explanations for it.

Southampton are back in the big time at the first attempt and will be aiming to stay here. Whilst Newcastle are 35/1 to lift the title and 12/5 to regain a Champions League spot, Southampton are 11/10 to be relegated straight back down to the Championship.

Nottingham Forest vs Bournemouth

A Championship fixture three years ago, Saturday's fixture is undoubtedly one of Premier League quality. Forest have invested considerable amounts under Evangelos Marinakis and have done so again this summer with the signing of Elliot Andersen from Newcastle.

Bournemouth played a very attractive style of football under Andoni Iraola and will be looking to get over the loss of Dominic Solanke to Tottenham.

Although Forest and Bournemouth both came up together two years ago, it is the East Midlands side who are the firmer favourites for relegation at 11/4 with Bournemouth as big as 9/1 to go down.

West Ham vs Aston Villa

West Ham will be looking to replicate Aston Villa's surge into Europe with their smart summer acquisitions. They have added both Aaron Wan Bissaka as well as Germany striker Niclas Fullkrug.

Villa have strengthened as well as they look to cope with the additional fixtures of an expanded Champions League format.

The Hammers are just 16/1 to finish in the top four after a productive summer transfer window whilst Aston Villa are 7/2  to retain their Champions League status for another year. West Ham are also no bigger than 10/11 to record a top half finish with Aston Villa a best priced 2/7 to finish in the first 10.

Sunday Premier League Fixtures this Weekend

Brentford vs Crystal Palace

A quintessential midtable clash sees Brentford take on Crystal Palace on Sunday. Crystal Palace will be looking to kick on after losing Michael Olise whilst they are also in danger of losing Marc Guehi to Newcastle.

Brentford will be hoping to keep hold of star striker Ivan Toney and will believe they can improve on last season with him available for the entire campaign. The Bees are 4/1 to finish in the top half whilst Crystal Palace are a best priced 7/5 to achieve the same feat.

Chelsea vs Manchester City

Four Premier League titles in a row - can they make it five? Although it is more than possible, there is a new wave of doubt over the Citizens. For starters their Financial Fair Play hearing is due to start in August whilst they have also lost key man Julian Alvarez.

There have also been rumours of Kevin De Bruyne and Ederson wanting to leave whilst this could also be Guardiola's final season in charge. All of this will be swarming in the minds of the players throughout the year.

Chelsea need to put in a more consistent campaign and will be hoping that new manager Enzo Maresca can do this. Manchester City are 6/4 favourites to win a fifth successive Premier League whilst Chelsea can be backed at 25/1 to lift the title. The Blues are also 6/4 to record a top four finish.

Is there a Monday Night Football in the first weekend?

The opening weekend of Premier League football for this season features a Monday Night Football as Leicester mark their return to the big time.

Leicester vs Tottenham

Leicester are back at the first attempt and will be aiming to secure survival under Steve Cooper. The Welshman knows what the tasks takes having guided newly promoted Forest to safety two seasons ago and will be up for the task.

Tottenham will be looking to break into the top four having narrowly missed out to Aston Villa last year. They have strengthen this year having signed Dominic Solanke for a club record fee.

Leicester are 4/9 favourites for relegation this season whilst Tottenham are 9/4 to make the top four. New club record signing Dominic Solanke is 20/1 to win the Golden Boot.
