Next Club Odds for Players left out of first England Squad for Lee Carsley

Lee Carsley named his first England squad yesterday.

Lee Carsley, who was hired as England's interim manager in August following Gareth Southgate's resignation, names his first squad yesterday for the Nations League matches against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

We’ve provided a quick rundown on the transfer odds for some of the highest profile omissions.

Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho hasn't made Lee Carsley's first squad having been left out of Man United's first two matches by Erik ten Hag.

It has been almost three years since his last cap against Andorra in October 2021, despite the form he showed on loan at Dortmund in the second half of last season.

Yesterday, he was rated close to 90% likely to move to Juventus before the window closes at odds of 1/7 (best price 2/5 on Sky Bet) but he is now shortest odds to join Chelsea.

Ivan Toney

Ivan Toney is a high profile omission for Carsley despite the key role he played off the bench for England in the summer, particularly in the shootout win over Switzerland.

The striker has also been left out of Thomas Frank’s Brentford squad for the first two matches of the Premier League season amid transfer links to both Chelsea and Saudi.

Yesterday, BetVictor made him 58% likely to sign for any Saudi Pro League club (odds of 8/11) and gave a 50% chance of him joining Chelsea (down from 70% earlier this week).

Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling’s last England appearance came in the 2022 World Cup quarter-final defeat to France in Qatar, and he won't add to his 82 caps this autumn.

The Chelsea forward is now likeliest to join Arsenal according to the latest betting odds. He is as short as evens on Paddy Power to make the move to the Emirates but a best price 2/1 on Ladbrokes.

Ben Chilwell

Another player linked with Man United in the last few days is Ben Chilwell, last capped (21 total) by England in a friendly before Euro 2024 against Belgium in March.

He is now out to 3/1 best price to join Man United but on bet365 he is a shorter 6/4 to swap Stamford Bridge for St James Park as a new recruit for Eddie Howe’s Newcastle.

Chilwell hasn't made the cut for Carsley having been overlooked for Chelsea.

Jarrad Branthwaite

Everton's Branthwaite, capped against Bosnia and Herzegovina in June, was the subject of two bids by Man United earlier in the window, but the latest odds suggest he is likelier to join Liverpool after United subsequently signed Matthijs de Ligt.

Liverpool are odds on to sign Branthwaite with Ladbrokes, while they are a best priced 11/4 with Paddy Power to strike a deal before Friday's deadline. Branthwaite surprisingly missed out on Carsley's squad as one of the centre backs alongside Newcastle bound Marc Guehi.
