MK Dons' Head Coach Mike Williamson has left to join Carlisle United, leaving the club in 20th place with Dean Lewington temporarily in charge.
MK Dons have announced that Head Coach Mike Williamson is leaving to join Carlisle United.
Williamson, who was appointed in October 2023, led MK Dons to a strong finish last season, but the team has struggled this year, currently sitting 20th in League Two with just six points from six games.
Williamson’s departure comes after he guided the Dons from 16th to a playoff spot last season, though they suffered a heavy defeat in the semi-finals.
Carlisle United, currently 22nd in the league, have met Williamson’s release clause and appointed him following the sacking of Paul Simpson.
MK Dons captain Dean Lewington will take temporary charge, with the club beginning the search for a new Head Coach.

Who is the favourite to be the next MK Dons Manager?
Crawley Town manager Scott Lindsey has emerged as the frontrunner to take over at MK Dons following Mike Williamson's departure to Carlisle United. Lindsey, who guided Crawley to promotion via the League Two play-offs last season, is priced at evens by BetVictor, giving him a 50% chance of securing the role.
Despite being linked with the position, Lindsey has expressed that he remains focused on his current job, stating that while it's flattering to be associated with bigger clubs, his commitment to Crawley remains unchanged unless told otherwise.
Also in contention for the MK Dons role are Ryan Mason, assistant manager at Tottenham Hotspur, with odds of 12/1, and former Stoke City boss Steven Schumacher, also at 12/1.
Both candidates bring top-level experience, though Lindsey remains the favourite as MK Dons seek to turn their season around after a difficult start.
