Next Coventry Manager Odds: The big name favourite to replace Mark Robins revealed

There is a high-profile name at the head of the next Coventry manager odds market.

The longest serving manager in the English Football League (EFL) has lost his job after Mark Robins was given his marching orders by Coventry.

Just four wins from 14 Championship matches this season leaves the Sky Blues 17th in the table, out of the relegation zone only on goal difference.

Wayne Rooney's Plymouth Argyle occupy the final relegation spot with a matched 15 points (four wins, three draws) but a goal difference of -11 to Coventry's -1.

The sacking of Robins, who returned to the club for a second spell at the club in March 2017, comes just 17 months after a penalty shootout denied Coventry promotion to the Premier League against Luton Town.

It also comes in the same year as the Sky Blues missed out on the FA Cup final on penalties, having come from 3-0 down against Man United. They were also denied a late extra winner in that game at Wembley.

Let’s look at the favourites to replace Robins in the next Coventry manager odds market.

Who is the favourite to be the next Coventry manager?

The next Coventry manager odds market suggests Frank Lampard (4/1 BetVictor) could be closing in on a return to football almost 18 months after an unsuccessful second spell at Chelsea.

The 106-cap England midfielder, who took Derby to the play-off final in his only season as a Championship manager, has also enjoyed a year in charge of Everton.

The biggest rival to Lampard in the early betting is England's interim boss Lee Carsley (6/1), who at one point seemed all but certain to land the top job with the FA.

Carsley has twice managed Coventry on a caretaker basis in 2012 and 2013. His biggest achievement to date is winning the 2023 European Championships with the Under 21's.

The only other manager with a 10/1 or shorter price with any bookmaker at the time of writing is Reading coach Ruben Selles (10/1), best known for an ill-fated spell with Southampton between February and May 2023 when he recorded just two wins from 17 matches.

Next Coventry Manager Best Odds Implied Chance
Frank Lampard 4/1 20%
Lee Carsley 6/1 14%
Ruben Selles 10/1 9%
Jim Goodwin 14/1 7%
Alex Neil 14/1 7%

Despite their seemingly perilous position in the table, Coventry are not rated among the frontrunners for Championship relegation according to the bookmakers. The Sky Blues are as big as 25/1 on Paddy Power to land in League One next season (less than a 4% implied chance).
