Mark Robins was given his marching orders by Coventry three weeks ago after just four wins from 14 matches left the Sky Blues 17th in the Championship table - out of the relegation zone on goal difference.
Previously the longest serving manager in the English Football League (EFL), Robins’ surprise sacking came just 17 months after a penalty shootout denied Coventry promotion to the Premier League against Luton Town.
It also comes in the same year as the Sky Blues missed out on the FA Cup final on penalties, having come from 3-0 down against Man United. They were also denied a late extra winner in that game at Wembley.
Cooper, meanwhile, was never a popular appointment among the fans at Leicester given his history with Nottingham Forest. He left the club earlier this week two points above the drop zone having collected two wins from the opening 12 matches.
The 44-year-old ultimately failed to fill the big boots vacated by Enzo Maresca, who secured promotion for the Foxes last season before leaving for Chelsea.
Only Wolves (28) and Southampton (24) have conceded more goals than the Foxes (23) under Cooper in the Premier League this season, while Brentford (19.2) and Saints (17.8) are giving up more chances than the Foxes (17.6).
