A big favourite has emerged as Carlisle hunt a new manager to replace Mike Williamson.
Former Newcastle defender Mike Williamson has lasted just four months as manager of Carlisle, who are rock bottom of the English Football League.
Williamson departs with Carlisle five points off safety in League Two. He was only appointed on 19th September having left MK Dons to replace Paul Simpson and managed just five wins from 25 matches.
His dismissal is not surprising given the Cumbrian team's awful run of form but it is strange that they allowed him to make 12 signings in the transfer window before giving him the boot.
It's likely that a change in circumstances has forced their hand...

The change in circumstances is of course the availability of Ian Evatt, who left Bolton Wanderers less than two weeks ago.
Evatt has been installed as the big market favourite to replace Williamson. He is a 1/3 chance on BetVictor, giving him an implied 75% chance of taking the job.
Keith Curle and Leam Richardson are the only managers given a greater than 10% chance, with Curle 6/1 (14%) and Richardson 8/1 (11%).
Evatt left Wanderers three points outside of the play-off places in League One, after a run of just two wins in nine league matches. He had led the club to promotion from League Two at the first time of asking back in 2021, before securing a ninth-place finish on their return to League One.
In the last two campaigns, the 43-year-old led the Trotters to the play-offs on both occasions, but could not get over the line and seal a return to the Championship, with a disappointing defeat to Oxford United in last year’s final at Wembley.
