Next Swansea Manager Odds: Who is the favourite to replace Luke Williams?

Swansea City are looking for a new manager after sacking Luke Williams.

Luke Williams has paid the price for a run of seven defeats in the last nine Championship matches for Swansea, who slipped from ninth place on 29th December to 17th less than seven weeks later.

After the win over Luton just over Christmas the Swans were four points off the playoff places, while a top six finish is now 11 points away. In that time, they have gone from 13/2 to make the playoffs to a current 250/1 on Sky Bet.

The start of that period also coincides with fan backlash over Williams' perceived wavering loyalty in the face of interest from West Bromwich Albion.

He was forced to apologised to any fans who he felt he showed "a lack of commitment" to Swansea by failing to rule out a move to the Baggies after Carlos Corberan left to join Valencia.

So, who is in the running to take over as Swansea's next manager?

Now 40 years of age, Buckingham was surprisingly sacked by Oxford United on 15th December, leaving the club 20th in the Championship having taken the U's into the second tier for the first time in a quarter of a century.

Buckingham had, at one point, been the odds on favourite to replace Rob Page as Wales manager last summer before the FAW opted for Craig Bellamy.

The only other manager with a single figure price in the next Swansea manager odds market is Russell Martin, himself also sacked in December with Southampton's embarrassing 5-0 defeat at home to Tottenham proving the final straw.

Similarly to Buckingham, he was coming off a promotion. He left the Saints as the only team in the Premier League yet to have won multiple matches, while their goal difference of minus 25 was at least nine goals worse than any other side.
