Next Tranmere Rovers Manager Odds: Who is favourite to replace Adkins?

Tranmere Rovers parted ways with Nigel Adkins after a 10-game winless run left them 22nd in League Two, just two points above relegation.

Tranmere Rovers have parted ways with manager Nigel Adkins by mutual consent after a disastrous run of 10 League Two games without a win.

The decision follows Tuesday’s 1-0 home defeat to Accrington Stanley, leaving Rovers 22nd in the table, just two points above the relegation zone.

Adkins, who took charge permanently in November 2023, won just six of 34 league matches this season.

With the club at serious risk of dropping into the National League for the first time since 2015, coach Andy Crosby will take over on an interim basis ahead of Saturday’s crucial clash with Port Vale.

Let's take a look at who could be the permanent replacement for Adkins.

Who is the favourite to be the next Tranmere Rovers manager?

Ryan Lowe is a best price of 4/5 with Bet Victor, giving him a 56% chance of securing the managerial position at Tranmere

The frontrunner for the job, Lowe has twice secured promotion from League Two, achieving success with Bury in 2019 and Plymouth in 2020.

The former Tranmere striker started this season managing Preston in the Championship but was dismissed after just one league game.

Neil Danns is 3/1 with the same bookmaker, giving him a 25% chance. Currently Tranmere’s assistant manager, Danns has limited managerial experience with his sole stint being with Macclesfield where he led them to promotion from the eighth tier in 2023.

If Rovers opt for stability within their backroom staff, he could be a short-term solution.

Andy Crosby is 4/1 or a 20% chance. A former Northern Ireland manager, Crosby was part of Tranmere’s backroom team before Adkins' departure.

He was previously in charge at Port Vale in League One but was sacked last year. Financial constraints may push Rovers to consider him as a cost-effective option.
