A decision on who will be the next Rangers manager is seemingly no closer as Steven Gerrard and Davide Ancelotti battle it out to land the top job.
The Ibrox club are entering a key period of change, both on and off the pitch, as the search for Philippe Clement's permanent successor continues – they finished a huge 17 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, winning seven fewer games and scoring 32 fewer goals.
Club legend Barry Ferguson was in charge for the final three months of the season - the former captain was appointed interim manager on February 24th, just a day after Clement was sacked.
When it became apparent that his interim position would not be made permanent, Gerrard and Ancelotti have been the clear market favourites.

Who is the favourite to be the next Rangers Manager?
Davide Ancelotti, the son of new Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti, is favourite to become the new Rangers manager at a best price of 4/6 on BetVictor.
The 35-year-old, who has assisted his high-profile father at Bayern Munich, Napoli and Everton, was on the books of AC Milan and Borgomanero as a player.

Despite Ancelotti’s strong position in the market, Steven Gerrard - who led the club to the 2020/21 Premiership title - remains a live contender.
He was reportedly spotted in the UK over the weekend, while there have also been rumours about Jordan Henderson – a surprise inclusion in Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad – being part of his management team should he land the job.
Gerrard enjoyed an iconic spell from 2018 to 2021, highlighted by an unbeaten title-winning campaign in 2020–21, establishing him as a modern Rangers legend. That 102-point season, which ended Celtic’s domestic dominance, is still fondly remembered by the fanbase.
With a 64.3% win rate across all competitions during his time there, as well as regular Old Firm wins and respectable European runs, Gerrard’s credentials are hard to look past despite a mixed period at Aston Villa and an unsuccessful spell in the Saudi Professional League.

Outside of Ancelotti and Gerrard, Marco Rose is one of the likeliest alternatives.
He quickly became one of the most talked-about names in Rangers’ managerial search following his departure from RB Leipzig on March 30th.
Previously seen as out of reach due to his Bundesliga profile, Rose was odds on for a few days in early May (now out to a huge 20/1 on BetVictor).
What strengthens his case further is his connection to the Red Bull footballing network who could soon have direct ties to Rangers through potential new owners, 49ers Enterprises. Red Bull hold a minority stake in Leeds United (owned by 49ers) and sponsor their shirts.
Rose has managed both RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig, winning two Austrian Bundesliga titles, a DFB-Pokal and guided Borussia Dortmund to a Bundesliga runners-up finish.
