Southampton have sacked Will Still after five months in charge, who is favourite to take charge?
Southampton have parted ways with manager Will Still after just five months in charge, following a poor run of results in the Championship.
The 33-year-old, who left French side RC Lens in May to take his first English managerial role, oversaw only two league wins from 13 matches, leaving the Saints 21st in the table, just three points above the relegation zone.
Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Preston North End marked their third consecutive league loss and extended a winless streak to 11 games across all competitions.
Alongside Still, his assistants Rubén Martínez and Clément Lemaitre, as well as Carl Martin, have departed.
Southampton’s under-21s head coach, Tonda Eckert, has been appointed as interim manager, as they look for a replacement.

Who Will Replace Will Still as Southampton Manager?
Russell Martin 6/4 - Russell Martin is currently the frontrunner to become Southampton’s next manager following Will Still’s sacking at 6/4 with Bet Victor. He is an attractive option given his familiarity with the club, having guided them to Championship promotion in 2023–24 and being a free agent means no compensation is required, allowing for a quick appointment.
Michael Carrick 5/1 - Michael Carrick is considered a strong contender to become Southampton’s next manager, with bookmaker odds of 5/1. The 42-year-old former Manchester United midfielder left Middlesbrough in June 2025 after nearly three years, where he transformed the team into a competitive Championship side.
Brendan Rodgers 8/1 - Brendan Rodgers is currently the third favourite to become Wolverhampton Wanderers’ next manager following Vitor Pereira’s dismissal, with odds of 8/1. His Premier League experience at Leicester and nearly winning the title with Liverpool in 2014, alongside his free-agent status, make him an attractive option for a club seeking a quick appointment to get back on track.
