Next Middlesbrough Manager Odds: Who is favourite to replace Rob Edwards?

Rob Edwards has left Middlesbrough to become Wolves’ new head coach, just five months after appointing him - who will be his replacement?

Rob Edwards has departed Middlesbrough just five months after appointing him, with the 42-year-old agreeing a three-and-a-half-year deal to become Wolves’ new head coach.

The Championship club are expected to receive around £3–4 million in compensation after granting Edwards permission to speak to the Premier League side.

His sudden exit follows days of negotiations, during which Boro stood him down from training and match duties.

Edwards, who previously managed Luton Town and led them to the Premier League in his first season (22/23), joined Boro in June, just five months ago, and now returns to Molineux, where he made over 100 appearances as a player and previously worked as a coach.

His departure leaves Middlesbrough searching for their third manager in less than a year, with the club sitting in the Championship play-off places.

Who are the betting favourites to be the next Middlesbrough manager?

Gary O’Neil is the favourite to replace Rob Edwards as the next Middlesbrough manager at a best price of 10/3 with William Hill.

O’Neil could be an intriguing option for Middlesbrough, given his history at the club, where he made over 100 appearances between 2007 and 2011. The 42-year-old is keen to return to management after nearly a year out since his last Premier League role, having recently turned down Wolves.

O’Neil was the short-priced favourite to replace Vitor Pereira as the next Wolves manager but withdrew from the process, insisting that “not enough boxes [were] being ticked” for him to return to the West Midlands side.

Carlos Corberan is the second favourite at a best price of 5/1 with BetVictor.

The 42-year-old Spaniard, currently in charge at Valencia, is under pressure after a poor run of form, with just two wins all season and the club sitting 19th in LaLiga. Corberan’s experience in the English Championship, including spells at Huddersfield Town and West Brom, makes him a credible option for Middlesbrough.
