Burnley Next Manger Odds: Gerrard Favourite as Parker Leaves

Check out the latest odds to be next Burnley manager as Scott Parker announces his departure from Turf Moor.

Steven Gerrard is the clear favourite in the market to be Next Burnley Manager after being cut from 4/1 earlier this week to 1/2 on Wednesday.

The market has come alive following Scott Parker’s exit by mutual consent, which came after Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League was confirmed. Parker had led the Clarets back up from the Championship, but their top-flight return ended in immediate relegation, prompting a reset ahead of next season.

Gerrard’s price collapse has been backed by significant punter interest, with the former Liverpool captain taking 85% of bets on Oddschecker since the market opened on Monday. Craig Bellamy is next in the betting at 6/1, followed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at 8/1, with Liam Rosenior and Thomas Frank both priced at 10/1.

Who is the favourite to be next Burnley manager?

Steven Gerrard is the favourite to be next Burnley manager at 1/2, having shortened dramatically from 4/1 earlier this week. The former Rangers, Aston Villa and Al-Ettifaq boss now holds a 66.7% implied probability, while Craig Bellamy follows at 6/1 and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is 8/1.

Why Steven Gerrard?

Gerrard’s appeal is clear: he is a high-profile name with promotion-chasing credibility, title-winning experience and a point to prove in English management. His best spell came at Rangers, where he led the club to the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership title, ending Celtic’s dominance and securing the championship with six matches to spare.

That Rangers success remains the strongest argument for Burnley taking him seriously. Gerrard built a side with defensive structure, intensity and authority — qualities that could suit a club preparing for another Championship promotion push. Burnley’s squad will likely be among the strongest in the division, and Gerrard has shown before that he can handle expectation when given a platform to dominate domestically.

The concerns are just as obvious. Gerrard’s Aston Villa spell ended in October 2022 after a poor start to the season, with the club confirming his departure following defeat to Fulham. His time at Al-Ettifaq also failed to rebuild his reputation, ending by mutual consent in January 2025 after a difficult run of results left the Saudi club in 12th.

For Burnley, the question is whether they are getting the Gerrard who transformed Rangers or the manager whose stock dipped at Villa and Al-Ettifaq. At 1/2, the betting market suggests momentum is firmly behind him, but this would still be a major appointment with both significant upside and clear risk.

Other candidates for next Burnley manager

Craig Bellamy is second favourite at 6/1 and has an obvious connection to Burnley, having previously worked as Vincent Kompany’s assistant at Turf Moor before becoming Wales manager. His knowledge of the club and squad culture could make him an attractive option, although moving from an international role back into the Championship would be a major decision.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is 8/1 and brings Premier League pedigree from his time at Manchester United, where he delivered two top-three finishes and reached the 2021 Europa League final. However, he has been out of work since leaving Besiktas after their European exit in 2025, which may make him a less straightforward fit than Gerrard.

Liam Rosenior and Thomas Frank are both available at 10/1. Rosenior has built a reputation as a progressive coach after spells with Hull and Strasbourg, despite a dissappointing stint at Chelsea. While Frank’s long-term work at Brentford showed he can overachieve with smart recruitment and clear tactical identity. Frank’s more recent Tottenham spell ended badly, but his Championship and lower-budget Premier League experience would still make him one of the most compelling names on the list.
