Next Liverpool Manager Odds: Iraola Favourite to Replace Slot

Check out the latest odds to become next Liverpool manager after Arne Slot was sacked.

Liverpool are searching for a new manager after sacking Arne Slot just one year after he delivered the club’s record-equalling 20th English league title. Slot’s second season ended with Liverpool finishing fifth, prompting an end-of-season review and a decisive move from the Anfield hierarchy.

Andoni Iraola is now the clear favourite in the next Liverpool manager odds market, shortening from 2/1 to 4/7 over the past nine days. The former Bournemouth boss has also dominated the betting activity on Oddschecker, with 79% of bets since Slot was sacked backing Iraola to be Liverpool’s next permanent manager.

Next Liverpool manager contenders

Andoni Iraola – 4/7

Iraola’s surge in the market is easy to understand. The Spaniard left Bournemouth at the end of the season after guiding the club to their highest-ever Premier League finish, sixth place, and European football for the first time in their history.

His high-intensity, front-foot approach would appear to suit a Liverpool squad built for pressing and fast transitions. Bournemouth's style as “rock and roll” football under Iraola would suit Liverpool, while reports have also noted his existing relationship with Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes, who appointed him at Bournemouth.

Sebastian Hoeness – 4/1

Hoeness is second in the market after enhancing his reputation with Stuttgart, where he has overseen one of the Bundesliga’s most impressive rebuilds. Stuttgart handed him a contract extension until 2028, underlining how highly he is valued in Germany.

The appeal for Liverpool would be his profile as a modern German coach with a track record of improving players and building a proactive team structure. The drawback is obvious: he would not be straightforward to prise away from Stuttgart.

Julian Nagelsmann – 13/2

Nagelsmann would be one of the most eye-catching names on the shortlist, bringing elite-level experience from Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and the Germany national team. However, he extended his Germany contract until Euro 2028, making timing a major obstacle.

Tactically, he fits the mould of a coach who could refresh Liverpool’s structure without abandoning their aggressive identity. But with the 2026 World Cup approaching, any move for Nagelsmann would likely require a major shift in his international plans.

Luis Enrique – 8/1

Luis Enrique has rebuilt PSG into a more collective, disciplined and tactically balanced side, moving the club away from its previous superstar-heavy identity. PSG are also preparing for another Champions League final as reigning European champions.

For Liverpool, his pedigree, authority and experience managing elite dressing rooms would be major attractions. The question is availability, with PSG unlikely to make it easy for one of Europe’s most successful current managers to leave.

Oliver Glasner – 9/1

Glasner’s stock is high after leading Crystal Palace to a historic European trophy, adding to his Europa League success with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022. His Palace spell has shown he can organise a team quickly, build belief and deliver knockout football under pressure.

He would offer Liverpool a more structured, tactically disciplined option than some of the more romantic names in the market. His back-three system would require adaptation, but his intensity and European pedigree make him an intriguing contender.

Jurgen Klopp – 9/1

Klopp’s name will always appear in this market because of what he means to Liverpool. His return would instantly unite the fanbase and restore the emotional connection that defined his first spell at Anfield.

However, a comeback still feels unlikely. Klopp is currently Red Bull’s head of global soccer, and while Reuters reported in March that he remains open to coaching again one day, he has also distanced himself from immediate speculation around managerial roles.

Unai Emery – 11/1

Emery has rebuilt his reputation emphatically at Aston Villa and remains one of Europe’s most respected cup and tactical managers. His remarkable Europa League record continued this season, with Villa winning the 2026 final against Freiburg.

Liverpool could view him as a proven operator capable of managing pressure, European football and squad evolution. The challenge is whether he would leave a Villa project where he has built genuine momentum.

Steven Gerrard – 12/1

Gerrard’s connection with Liverpool is unmatched among the contenders, and his success at Rangers — where he delivered the club’s first league title in a decade — still carries weight.

The concern is his more recent managerial record. His spells at Aston Villa and Al-Ettifaq did not build the same momentum, with the Saudi club confirming his exit by mutual consent in January 2025.

Simone Inzaghi – 14/1

Inzaghi would bring elite European experience, having taken Inter Milan to two Champions League finals and won major domestic honours in Italy. He later moved to Al-Hilal after leaving Inter, where his tactical reputation remained strong.

His 3-5-2 system would represent a significant change from Liverpool’s recent tactical identity. Still, his ability to build compact, dangerous and experienced sides could appeal if Liverpool want a more controlled post-Slot reset.

Marco Silva – 16/1

Silva has done an impressive job stabilising Fulham and keeping them competitive in the Premier League. BBC Sport reported that his contract situation was uncertain, with Fulham keen to keep him and Benfica also linked.

He would be a Premier League-proven appointment with a clear playing style and strong organisational qualities. Liverpool may see him as a safer domestic option, though he lacks the elite European CV of several others in the market.

Zinedine Zidane – 20/1

Zidane remains the glamour outsider, with three Champions League titles as Real Madrid manager giving him one of the strongest CVs in the market. But he has been out of club management since leaving Real Madrid in 2021 and has been heavily linked with the France job after the 2026 World Cup.

His aura and trophy record would make him a box-office appointment at Anfield. Realistically, though, his long wait for the France role makes Liverpool look more like a speculative market move than a likely destination.
