Check out the odds to become the next Germany National Team manager, with Jurgen Klopp the odds-on favourite.
Jurgen Klopp is the overwhelming favourite in the next Germany manager odds as pressure builds on Julian Nagelsmann following Germany’s shock 2026 World Cup exit.
This is not currently a confirmed vacancy. Nagelsmann has said he wants to continue, but Germany’s penalty shootout defeat to Paraguay in the round of 32 has put his future under scrutiny after a third successive early World Cup exit.
Who is favourite to be the next Germany manager?
Jurgen Klopp is the clear favourite to become the next Germany manager, with a best price of 2/5 currently available through Oddschecker.
Why is Jurgen Klopp favourite?
Klopp is the obvious name at the top of the market because he combines German football identity, elite-club pedigree and a current role outside day-to-day club management.
The former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund manager is now Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer, a position he started in January 2025. Klopp’s managerial honours include the Premier League, Bundesliga, Champions League, FA Cup, DFB-Pokal and Club World Cup.
That profile explains why bookmakers have made him odds-on. Germany do not just need a coach with tactical authority; they need a figure capable of resetting belief around the national team after another disappointing World Cup campaign. Klopp’s charisma, tournament-level intensity and connection with the German public make him the standout candidate if the DFB decide to move on from Nagelsmann.
The obstacle is whether Klopp wants to return to the dugout. His Red Bull role was framed as a long-term football leadership project rather than a short pause between coaching jobs, so the price reflects his suitability more than any confirmed availability.
Could Pep Guardiola become Germany manager?
Pep Guardiola is second in the betting at 5/1, making him the highest-profile non-German option in the market.
However, there is a major caveat. Guardiola previously said he planned to take a break after leaving City.
That makes Guardiola a fascinating betting name, but not necessarily the most realistic appointment unless he is ready to move straight into international football.
Sebastian Hoeness and Fabian Hurzeler offer younger German options
Sebastian Hoeness is 6/1 and looks one of the most plausible German coaching candidates on profile. Stuttgart extended his contract until June 2028 after he took over with the club in relegation danger, kept them up and then guided them to a Bundesliga runners-up finish and Champions League qualification.
Hoeness would represent a modern, upwardly mobile Bundesliga appointment, but his Stuttgart contract is an obvious complication. If the DFB want a coach already working successfully with German players and a clear tactical structure, he will remain in the conversation.
Fabian Hurzeler is also prominent at 8/1. Brighton confirmed in May that their German head coach had signed a new three-year deal until June 2029, praising his clear playing identity and progress across two seasons.
At 33, Hurzeler would be a bold long-term choice. His age and Premier League experience make him one of the most exciting names in the betting, but his fresh Brighton contract makes an immediate move difficult.
Could Joachim Low return as Germany manager?
Joachim Low is priced at 8/1, and his presence in the market is easy to understand. He remains Germany’s last World Cup-winning manager, having led the national team to the 2014 title before leaving after Euro 2020.
In 2021, Low stepped down after 15 years in charge, ending a reign that included Germany’s 2014 World Cup triumph.
A Low return would offer experience, familiarity and an immediate link to Germany’s last great international team. The question is whether the DFB would want to go back to a previous era when the national team may need a more forward-looking reset.
Other contenders in the next Germany manager odds
Ralf Rangnick is 16/1, but he is currently tied to Austria. In June, Rangnick had extended his Austria contract until 2028 after helping them qualify for a World Cup for the first time in 28 years.
Thomas Tuchel is 20/1, but he is also tied to a national-team role after signing a contract extension with England beyond the 2026 World Cup. Tuchel’s new deal is intended to keep him in charge through to Euro 2028.
Diego Simeone and Oliver Glasner are both 25/1. Simeone’s Atletico Madrid contract runs until June 2027, with the club confirming he had renewed after becoming their most successful manager. Glasner is an interesting outsider, but the market is clearly headed by German-linked options rather than an overseas tactical gamble.
