Steven Gerrard is the 4/1 favourite to be the next Burnley manager after Nicky Hayen was sacked on Saturday.
Burnley are looking for their second head coach in four months. Nicky Hayen was sacked on Saturday evening, two hours after a 4-1 defeat at Lincoln left the relegated club 22nd in the Championship. He won only once in 14 games, and Burnley are three points from safety with a home game against Portsmouth on Saturday.
The search hasn't started well. Rob Edwards was interviewed on Monday and turned the job down, and Carlos Corberan has distanced himself from it. Newly appointed chief football officer Diego López is leading the process, and Burnley haven't named an interim head coach.

Who Is Favourite to Be the Next Burnley Manager?
Steven Gerrard is favourite at 4/1, an implied chance of about 20%, and has taken 30% of the bets on Oddschecker. Bet history shows his price swinging since Hayen left. BetVictor cut him to 3/1 on Saturday, pushed him out as far as 8/1 on Monday, then brought him back to 4/1. The former Rangers and Aston Villa boss has been out of work since leaving Al-Ettifaq in January 2025, and he was also linked with Burnley in the summer, but there has been no report of talks this time.
Craig Bellamy and Robbie Keane are joint second favourites at 12/1 (8%). Bellamy is the second most popular bet with 23%. The Wales manager knows the club from his time as Vincent Kompany's assistant, but talks with him broke down when Burnley last had a vacancy, in the summer.
Burnley Next Manager Odds on Rob Edwards and Scott Parker
Edwards is still 16/1 even though reports say he has rejected the job, so it would be a surprise to see him change his mind. Scott Parker, also 16/1, led Burnley to promotion with 100 points in 2024-25, then left by mutual consent in April after relegation was confirmed.
Sean Dyche is 33/1 for a return to the club he managed for nearly a decade. Corberan, Thomas Frank and Liam Rosenior are among the managers at the same price.
When Do Burnley Play Next?
Burnley host Portsmouth at Turf Moor on Saturday 31 October at 3pm GMT, then travel to QPR on Tuesday 3 November at 7.45pm GMT. They haven't won a league game at home since beating Leeds in October 2025.
