Dave Challinor is the 2/5 favourite to be the next Sheffield Wednesday manager after Henrik Pedersen was sacked on Sunday.
Sheffield Wednesday are looking for a new manager again. Henrik Pedersen was sacked on Sunday after back-to-back 2-0 defeats to Notts County and Doncaster. Sporting director Simon Wilson said the club had not seen enough progress in style of play or consistency.
The timing shows how much has changed at Hillsborough. Arise Capital Partners, led by David Storch, completed their takeover in May, after the club came out of administration and was relegated from the Championship. Wednesday started this League One season on zero points and sit ninth, but the new owners want a clear style and an identity as well as results. Early reporting suggests the search will be quick.

Who's Favourite to Be the Next Sheffield Wednesday Manager?
Dave Challinor is the favourite at 2/5, which gives him an implied chance of around 71%. Oddschecker's bet history shows he opened at 2/5 on Sunday and was cut to 1/8 within hours of Pedersen leaving. He has drifted back out to 2/5 since Monday.
He makes obvious sense on paper. He has been out of work since leaving Stockport in the summer, after reaching last season's League One play-off final, so no compensation would be needed. He also worked with Wilson at Stockport, and he said earlier this month that he is ready to return. The drift suggests the deal is less certain than the early betting implied, with local reporting stressing that the appointment is not a done deal.
Interim boss Matt Hamshaw is joint second favourite at 8/1, about 11%, having been cut from 20/1. He took charge of Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Cambridge in front of more than 30,000 fans and has made it clear he would like the job.
Andy Woodman is also 8/1 after a sharp move from 33/1. He left Bromley last week, having won League Two with them last season. Paul Heckingbottom, sacked by Preston in September, is 12/1.
Sheffield Wednesday Fixtures and the Takeover Restrictions
Wednesday host Blackpool on Sunday at 14:00 GMT, so Hamshaw is likely to be in charge for at least one more game unless the club moves quickly. They are 9th on 19 points from 12 matches.
The takeover came with budget restrictions for two seasons, and that limits how far the club can go for a manager already in a job. That helps explain why Challinor and other managers out of work fill the top of the betting.
Challinor is still the name to beat. His drift and the support for Hamshaw and Woodman suggest the market is less sure than it was on Sunday night.
