Premier League Golden Boot Odds

After an opening day brace, Erling Haaland took an early lead in the betting to win the Golden Boot and reclaim the award he secured in 2022/23 (36 goals) and 2023/24 (27 goals) but lost to Mohamed Salah in 2024/25 (29 goals). He failed to score in matchweek 2 and will hope to put that right against Brighton this week.

He is a best price of 11/10 with Betfred (at the time of publishing).

Who is the favourite to win the Premier League Golden Boot?

Erling Haaland (Manchester City) – 11/10

Haaland starts the season as the clear favourite to retain the Golden Boot. Despite City’s shock 0-2 loss to Tottenham on August 23, the Norwegian remains the focal point of Pep Guardiola’s attack. Haaland is a proven goalscorer, registering 34 goals last season and 53 in 2022/23.

Viktor Gyökeres (Arsenal) – 6/1

Arsenal’s £63m summer signing from Sporting CP has made an immediate impact, scoring twice in two appearances, including a brace in a 5-0 rout of Leeds. Gyökeres demonstrated composure from the spot and strength in the box, bullying his way past defenders for a well-taken goal. While he had a quieter debut against Manchester United, his finishing ability and Arsenal’s creative system make him a credible dark horse. At 6/1, he is one of the most interesting early-season stories.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – 9/1

The reigning Golden Boot winner (2024/25) has started strongly, scoring in Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Bournemouth. Salah now sits behind Haaland and Gyokeres in the early market, perhaps reflecting the challenge of sustaining output at 33 years old.

Liverpool’s attacking options, including new signing Hugo Ekitiké, may see Salah share more of the scoring responsibility, but his experience, penalty duties, and record in high-pressure matches ensure he remains a leading contender.

Hugo Ekitiké (Liverpool) – 20/1

Liverpool’s £79m signing from Eintracht Frankfurt has adapted quickly, scoring in both the Community Shield and two opening league fixtures. Ekitiké’s dribbling, movement in the box, and link-up play with Salah and Wirtz have already made him a key attacking outlet.

While competition for minutes, particularly if Isak arrives, could limit his total output, Ekitiké’s early form and flair position him as an exciting outsider.

Richarlison (Tottenham) – 40/1

Richarlison has started the season in fine form, scoring twice against Burnley, including a spectacular scissor kick.

He has become the focal point of Spurs’ attack, with manager, Thomas Frank, seemingly preferring him over Dominic Solanke.

Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) – 33/1

Watkins has yet to score in the opening two matches, but Villa’s system under Unai Emery is built around him.

With 16 goals and eight assists last season, Watkins has proven his Premier League credentials.

Early fixtures against tougher opponents have limited his output, but if Villa’s chance creation improves, Watkins could quietly climb the Golden Boot charts.

Cole Palmer (Chelsea) – 25/1

Palmer is yet to score, and an injury in the warm-up against West Ham might hinder his chances.

While Chelsea’s attack has been inconsistent early, Palmer’s ability to create chances and take penalties keeps him in the conversation as a dark horse, though 25+ goals remains ambitious.

Benjamin Šeško (Manchester United) – 33/1

Šeško’s start has been slow, with limited minutes and opportunities, playing just 62 minutes off the bench.

Manchester United’s ongoing creative struggles, coupled with a difficult early fixture list, make him a long shot for the Golden Boot.

How is Golden Boot decided if it's a tie?

If two or more players finish the Premier League season with the same number of goals, the Golden Boot is decided using the following tiebreakers, in order:

Assists: The player with the most assists in the season wins the Golden Boot. This rewards players who contribute to their team’s attack beyond just scoring.

Minutes-per-Goal Ratio: If the assist count is also tied, the player who scored their goals in fewer minutes played (i.e., a better minutes-per-goal ratio) wins.

If these tiebreakers still result in a tie, the Premier League awards the Golden Boot to all players who share the highest goal tally.

This has happened before, such as in the 2018/19 season when Mohamed Salah, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Sadio Mane each scored 22 goals and shared the award (no tiebreaker was needed as the league opted to recognize all three).

For betting purposes, if the Golden Boot is shared, bookmakers apply “dead heat” rules. For example, if you bet £10 on a player at 33/1 odds and they tie with one other player, your payout is halved (e.g., £170 instead of £340, including stake). Always check bookmaker terms for specifics.
