Dustin Johnson injured on eve of Masters

The favourite to take home the Green Jacket is now questionable to compete after injuring his back.

Dustin Johnson, the favourite for Masters victory, has had a serious fall on a staircase and whether he plays tomorrow is now up in the air.

A statement from Johnson's agent, David Winkle: "At roughly 3:00 pm today, Dustin took a serious fall on a staircase in his Augusta rental home. He landed very hard on his lower back and is now resting, although quite uncomfortably. He has been advised to remain immobile and begin a regimen of anti-inflammatory medication and icing, with the hope of being able to play tomorrow."

The reigning US Open champion has won three straight tournaments and enjoyed his best performance at the Masters last year, finishing T4. Since last week, 8% of all bets on the tournament through Oddschecker have been placed on Dustin.
