Jordan Spieth comes in as the unsurprising favourite while punters have looked to Justin Rose for value
The Tour Championship gets underway in Atlanta today and is the last event in this year’s Fedex Cup. Jordan Spieth is currently the favourite, but amazingly, the only golfer in history to win the Cup after leading going into the final event has been Tiger Woods.
Punters look keen to cash in on Spieth being the second man to achieve this feat. Unsurprisingly, he has shortened to a 4/1 favourite with some bookmakers after seeing a huge influx of bets over the past week.
Alone, Spieth has accounted for just over 13% of all bets on the market, but one man has more: Justin Rose.
Rose has had 14.5% of all bets staked on him this week, and some bookmakers are still offering him as a 14/1 outsider, behind a whole host of others including Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, Justin Thomas, Jason Day and John Rahm.
The mass of bets on Rose shows that punters are seeing great value on him, and bookies are shortening his odds accordingly: he was 16/1 with some at the start of the week, now down to 10s.
