Garcia went from 25/1 to 4000/1 following his nightmare.
Plucky punters are continuing to back returning champion Sergio Garcia, despite all but throwing away his chances of retaining his crown on the 15th.
Prior to tee-off, Garcia was 25/1 to take the spoils at Augusta yet again, but after his calamitous five consecutive balls out of bound efforts, he shot to 4000/1.
However, that hasn’t put off punters, with the public clambering to back the Spaniard at stratospheric odds.
In total, 6% of all bets this morning have been placed on Garcia, despite being 4000/1, with punters praying for a miracle return to form from the 38-year-old.
On his triumphant path to Masters glory last year, Garcia took 16 shots on the 15th hole throughout all four rounds, compared to his 13 efforts in one round yesterday.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “This is bizarre.
“Sergio Garcia has already has his Augusta fairy tale and bookies will be laughing all the way to the bank with those who are backing what is surely an impossible outcome.”
