300/1 shot and 2009 winner, Stewart Cink, among most-backed players ahead of the 147th Open Championship at Carnoustie
Stewart Cink famously won the Open Championship in 2009 as he beat Tom Watson by six shots in a four-hole aggregate playoff.
The American is in excellent form on the back of T4, T2 and T23 finishes at the FedEx St Jude Classic, Travelers Championship and Quicken Loans National respectively.
45-year-old Cink, who has been paired with Scottish Open winner Brandon Stone and Hideto Tanihara for the opening two rounds at Carnoustie, has accounted for 6% of all Open bets in the last 24 hours – only Alex Noren (8%) has a larger share.
Bookies however are unsure on Cink’s chances. One firm has priced the American at 300/1, whilst he is far shorter at 125/1 with a number of others. Time will tell whether the 2009 Open champion can make history once again.
