Big-hitting Bryson is now 12/1 second-favourite
The US Masters is under two months away, and following an extraordinary US Open, punters have been getting busy ahead of the next Major.
Following on from an incredible performance from Bryson DeChambeau at Winged Foot, the 27-year-old has been cut across the board.
He was as big as 16/1 before Thursday, but the big-hitting American is as short as 8/1 with two firms. One bookmaker is still a standout 12/1 on him though. The Californian born star is the second most backed player for the major on oddschecker, taking 14% of all bets on the market in the last seven days.
Rory Mcllroy is favourite with most firms, with a best price of 10/1 on the Northern Irishman. He finished in T8 at the US Open, and will have plenty of positives to take from the way he played across the four days.
However, only 3% of bets in the market have been on him, with eight players all proving more popular in the last week with oddschecker users.
Jon Rahm is another at the front of the market for the Masters. The swashbuckling Spaniard has stayed at the same price as he was earlier in the week, currently the best price of 12/1. Despite a disappointing end to his US Open effort, he has still taken 5% of bets in the market, with plenty expecting a bold showing.
None of these three are the most backed player for the Masters, however. It is, in fact, Matthew Wolff who has received the most amount of bets in the last week. The exciting 21-year-old is the most-backed player with 15% of bets after finishing second on Sunday.
Despite his performance, he is still as big as 50/1 for the Masters. Punters clearly think that price is too big, and have been lapping it up in the last week.
Both Dustin Johnson and Xander Schauffele have also been well backed, taking 9% and 8% of bets in the market respectively.
DJ is available at a standout 16/1 with one bookmaker, but is as short as 9/1 elsewhere.
Xander has seen his price be cut across most firms, but 20/1 is still available if you shop around.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “Big-hitting Bryson DeChambeau married up his propensity to smack it 380+ yards with a cool head to cruise to victory in the US Open.
“When he’s playing like that, it’s hard to look past him when you consider what he can do off the tee, and punters have been all over him in the last 24 hours.
“A Masters in November will be quite the spectacle and punters will be watching on to see if the Californian native can secure his second major of 2020.”
