A sensational 65 sees Rose sit on top of the leaderboard, but can he stay there? With plenty of golf still to come, the bookies seem to think so.
Justin Rose to win The Masters? The bookies fancy his chances.
Justin Rose’s stupefying 65 at Augusta on Thursday has resulted in bookmakers drastically cutting his odds on winning The Masters.
Prior to the tournament, bookies were offering odds as big as 125/1 on the South African-born English professional, although that price is no longer.
This morning, Rose is the 4/1 clear favourite to win his first-ever Green Jacket, streaks ahead of the other big contenders.

Who else is in the mix?
2015 winner Jordan Spieth is six shots off Rose and second favourite at 8/1, followed by Spaniard Jon Rahm (16/1).
Justin Thomas has drifted out to 14/1, shooting one over par on Thursday, which sees him alongside Hideki Matsuyama at the same price.
Towards the bottom of the leaderboard, Rory McIlroy has drifted from 18/1 pre-tournament out to a staggering 90/1 best price.
Another notable mover in the other direction is Bryson DeChambeau, with the 11/1 pre-tournament second favourite drifting out to 66/1.

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “Justin Rose gained over nine strokes on the field on Thursday and bookies have been quick to shorten his lengthy odds.
“The 125/1 being offered pre-tournament has quickly tumbled to 4/1, with some firms going even shorter at 10/3.
“There were very few Justin Rose believers from a punters’ perspective heading into the weekend, with the Englishman accounting for less than 0.5% of all bets.”
The Masters 2021 Odds:

- Jordan Spieth - 8/1
- Justin Thomas - 14/1
- Hideki Matsuyama - 14/1
- Jon Rahm - 16/1
