Open Championship 2022: Odds, Most Backed, Tee Times, TV Channel, Previous Winners & Free Bets

When does the Open Championship 2022 start? Who is the favourite? What are the odds? And what free bets are available? oddschecker has all the information you need.

Collin Morikawa (28/1) will defend his Open Championship at the home of golf starting this Thursday (14th July). Ahead of the first tee time at St Andrews, oddschecker have rounded up the most important betting based information about this year’s event.

The Open Championship Favourite

It may surprise you to learn that Rory McIlroy is a clear favourite for the 150th Open Championship despite his eight-year wait for a fifth major title. The 33-year-old (best price 10/1) has come close in all three of the majors so far this year, having followed a 2nd place finish at the Masters with 8th at the PGA Championship - where he led after the first day with a 65 - and T5 at the US Open.

Who is the most backed?

Again, it’s that man McIlroy leading the way through oddschecker. At the time of writing, less than three days out from the start of the championship, McIlroy has taken 6.47% of the outright bets on the tournament since the start of the year.

The beneficiary of McIlroy's latest major near at the US Open, Matt Fitzpatrick (18/1), is the second most backed. The 27-year-old, who struck a stunning approach from a fairway bunker to seal his first major success in Brookline last month, has featured in 4.05% of the betslips so far this year.

Over the last 24 hours, however, Scottish Open winner Xander Schauffele is the big mover. He started the weekend at 22/1 but is now a general 14/1 (best price 16/1).
