PGA Power Rankings: Top 5 Golfers For Shriners Children's Open

The latest PGA Power Rankings for the Shriners Children's Open in Las Vegas.

After a few weeks off following the FedExCup Championship, which saw Viktor Hovland win in dominant fashion, we're back at the Shriners Children's Open at TPC Summerlin with the latest PGA Power Rankings.

Tom Kim won here at Shriners a year ago, winning at -24-under-par after going bogey-free throughout the entire four rounds. He received help from Patrick Cantlay, who triple bogeyed on the 72nd hole, but Kim returns with confidence and a much healthier version of himself following a sprained ankle sustained late last season.

The favourite for the Shriners Children's Open is Tom Kim who can be found at the best price of 12/1. Alongside Kim, you can back Ludvig Aberg at 12/1 and Cam Davis at 22/1.

Shriners Children's Open Course

TPC Summerlin is nestled in the Las Vegas desert, playing as a par 71 that runs nearly 7,300 yards in length. Golfers will only have three par 5 holes, including one on the front-nine, while the final three-hole stretch on 16-18 presents more water hazards and alternates from a par 5, to par 3, finishing with a difficult par 4 on the 18th hole. Players who excel at strokes gained tee-to-green will have a leg up on the field, while putting won the event for Tom Kim a year ago, so a red-hot flat stick is always an asset at this course.

Historically, TPC Summerlin is among the lowest scoring courses, with players racking up birdies on the Bermudagrass fairways and bentgrass greens. These are both new surfaces and the bentgrass greens should roll up to 12 feet via Stimpmeter, providing plenty of velocity for players to reach the hole with quality approach shots and putts alike. The dry landscape is filled with plenty of opportunities for errant lies though, especially with doglegged fairways curving around water hazards on the back-nine.

Shriners Children's Open Power Rankings

Tom Kim

Betting on Tom Kim is chalky, but he's the defending champion and ranks top-30 in strokes gained tee-to-green, approaching the green, and total driving. Kim is fully healthy entering this event and should be comfortable on the course he went bogey-free on a year ago. 12/1 is good value compared to other outright betting favourites in events with a deeper field.

Adam Schenk

Adam Schenk is always undervalued and 30/1 is way too good to pass up. Schenk finished T12 at Shriners in 2022, while recording a T3 finish at -19-under-par back in 2021. He's consistently hovering near the top of the leaderboard and had a career year down the stretch last season, however, the outright wins have eluded the Indiana native.

Adam Hadwin

One of the strongest outright betting prospects available on this slate is Adam Hadwin. The Canadian has placed T10 and T6 during his previous two outing at Shriners. He's seeking just his second career win, which came at Valspar Championship back in 2017, so Hadwin is due for a win. He recorded five T10 finishes last season and ranked 23rd strokes gained putting, which makes Hadwin a golfer worth backing at TPC Summerlin this weekend.

Tom Hoge

Tom Hoge had three excellent rounds at TPC Summerlin a year ago, but a +1 round on Friday kept him from contending for the outright win. Hoge is a volatile player who either finishes inside of the top ten, or falls way outside of the top 25. He's much less consistent than Hadwin at this price, but he ranked ninth in strokes gained approaching the green, as well as ninth in hole proximity last year. Previous finishes of T4 and T13 make Hoge another good prospect to target.

Lucas Herbert

Lucas Herbert has the longest odds in these top five power rankings, sitting at 55/1 on Betfred. The Aussie managed a T20 finish at TPC Summerlin in 2022, going -9-under-par in the final two rounds to climb inside the top 25. Herbert's best asset is his putter, ranked 29th in strokes gained putting last season, while averaging over 32 percent on birdie or better conversions, ranked 32nd on the PGA Tour. Herbert's one-putt percentage was a bristling 43 percent, ranked eighth best.
