PGA Championship 2024 Odds: Who is the favourite if Scheffler misses Valhalla?

PGA Championship 2024 Odds: Who is the favourite if Scheffler misses Valhalla?

Scottie Scheffler fans face an anxious wait to see if he will play at Valhalla.

Given that he’s expecting his first child with wife Meredith any day now, Scottie Scheffler’s participation in next week’s PGA Championship at Valhalla is far from certain.

The world number one was too strong for the field at the 2024 Masters, winning by four strokes from major debutant Ludvig Aberg in the first major of the year.

No one else got within seven of Scheffler, who claimed his second green jacket and a cool $3.6 million in prize money. The following week Scheffler landed the RBC Heritage, taking his 2024 PGA Tour prize money to $18,693,235 from just 10 events.

Remarkably, he has finished inside the top 10 in nine of those 10 events, with one runner-up at the Texas Children's Houston Open mixed with four wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Players Championship, Masters and RBC Heritage.

Those four wins and one runner-up make up his last five events, meaning he hasn’t finished outside the top two since the Genesis Invitational in mid-February.

Who is the favourite to win the PGA Championship 2024?

Scottie Scheffler is the favourite to win the PGA Championship at Valhalla with a best price of 4/1 on Betfred (implied 20% chance).

The second favourite is the two-time PGA Championship winner Rory McIlroy (12/1 on bet365), who would assume favouritism for the event should Scheffler not be available to play.

Jon Rahm is a matched 12/1 on bet365 (best 14/1 on William Hill), while fourth favourite Brooks Koepka is the big market mover of the last seven days.

Koepka, who was priced as big as 22/1 with some bookmakers before LIV Golf Singapore, has been chopped into a shortest 11/1 (best price 16/1 on BetMGM) having won the event by two strokes from Cameron Smith (28/1) and Marc Leishman (200/1 BetVictor).

Including a surprise invitation for Talor Gooch, Smith will be one of 16 players representing LIV Golf at the 2024 PGA Championship - down from 18 in this event 12 months ago.

Tiger Woods is a 175/1 shot to win the tournament for a fifth time on Sky Bet.
