Rory McIlroy will be competing in his 16th PGA Championship this week in a bid to win his first major since 2014.
The USPGA Championship gets underway tomorrow as the field of 156 players take to the Valhalla Golf Club in Kentucky, including defending champion Brooks Koepka and two-time PGA Championship winner, Rory McIlroy.
Current Masters champion Scottie Scheffler has been heavily tipped to win again at the PGA Championship this week, but McIlroy has been in fine form of late with two PGA Tour victories coming into this tournament.
McIlroy is currently the second favourite with odds at 15/2, behind only Scheffler who has won in four of his last five outings.
With Scheffler the favourite and in such unbeatable form, it will be interesting to see whether McIlroy can step up from his recent wins at Quail Hollow and TPC Louisiana.

What are Rory McIlroy's odds to win the PGA Championship?
The best odds on McIlroy to win this year’s PGA Championship are 15/2, with bookies such as BetMGM, UniBet, BetUK, and AK Bets offering this price. This has made him Scheffler’s closest challenger in the betting, and with McIlroy being the number two player in the world currently, it’s easy to see why.
Rory McIlroy PGA Championship Record
McIlroy has a pretty decent record at the PGA Championship, having won it twice previously in 2012 and 2014.
He has appeared in the competition 15 times and has finished in the top 10 on his last two attempts. This time, though, McIlroy is returning to the course that saw his last major victory in 2014.
The Northern Irishman clearly favours the Valhalla course, which is where he won his last PGA Championship in 2014 after finishing -16.
His final round got off to a poor start despite beginning with a one-shot advantage. McIlroy fell from the lead with two bogeys on his first six holes, but managed to hold on to victory with an eagle at the 10th and a birdie at the 13th and 17th.
He will be hoping for a more dominant performance this time around, but challengers such as Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and Brooks Koepka will be keeping him on his toes.

Rory McIlroy Last Major Win
McIlroy’s last major win was at this course, in this competition back in 2014. He will be hoping for the same outcome this time around to end his lengthy major drought.
This drought is disappointing for someone who is ranked number two in the world and for a golfer with a huge amount of talent, despite his poor record over the last decade.
In 2014, McIlroy managed to beat Phil Mickelson, Rickie Fowler, and Henrik Stenson on a thrilling final day to win his second PGA Championship.
Since then, he has been majorless with that elusive fifth title proving the hardest to claim. Will he do it this time around in Valhalla?
