Scheffler PGA Championship Odds: World number one 9/2 amid police mix up

Scottie Scheffler has reportedly been arrested trying to get into Valhalla.

Scottie Scheffler has been arrested by police after a misunderstanding with traffic flow led to his attempt to drive past an officer into Valhalla Golf Club.

The world number one carded an opening round 67 (-4) in the second major of the year to sit five shots off the pace set by Xander Schauffele (11/4 favourite on Sky Bet).

Scheffler’s participation in the PGA Championship had been in doubt until the start of this week, when he confirmed he was "as prepared as possible" to play after the birth of his son Bennett, cementing his position as the tournament's outright favourite.

He came into the tournament off a three-week break from PGA Tour action, having skipped the Zurich Classic, CJ Cup Byron Nelson and Wells Fargo Championship.
