Where is the Open 2024? And who is the favourite to win?

Where is the Open 2024? And who is the favourite to win?

The final major of the season is upon us, where will it be hosted and who is the favourite to win?

The 152nd Open Championship kicks off next week, featuring the world's top golfers as they compete for the season's final major title.

Rory McIlroy is eager to bounce back from his gut-wrenching loss at the US Open last month, where he bogeyed three of the last four holes, finishing just one shot behind Bryson DeChambeau.

DeChambeau, on the other hand, hopes to maintain his impressive form in majors this season, having already secured a 6th, 2nd, and 1st place finish.

Meanwhile, Brian Harman aims to make history by becoming the first back-to-back winner of the Open since Padraig Harrington achieved the feat in 2008.

Where is the Open Championship?

The 2024 Open Championship will be held at Royal Troon gold course in South Ayrshire, Scotland, which last hosted in 2016 when Henrik Stenson lifted the Claret Jug.

The course has been extended to 7,385 yards while retaining its Par 71 status. Notable updates include nine new tee boxes and a challenging blind shot from the new 10th hole.

The par-5 6th, now the longest hole in Open Championship history at 623 yards, features two new bunkers.

Renowned for its strategic demands, the course is a true test of skill, especially with the prevailing north-westerly wind.

Players can capitalise on the outward nine with the wind at their backs, but the inward nine, with the wind in your face and a number of blind tee shots, requires precision and careful planning.
