The 2025 Genesis Scottish Open tees off this Thursday at The Renaissance Club, featuring a stacked field including Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and defending champion Robert MacIntyre.
The 2025 Genesis Scottish Open tees off this Thursday, July 10, at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, just one week before The Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
With a $9 million purse and a field stacked with elite talent, including eight of the world’s top 10, this co-sanctioned PGA Tour and DP World Tour event is sure to impress.
World No.1 Scottie Scheffler arrives as the favourite after another strong season highlighted by his PGA Championship victory.
Joining him at the top of the market is Rory McIlroy, who returns to links golf fresh off completing the career Grand Slam with his Masters win in April.
Xander Schauffele, the reigning Open Champion and a former Scottish Open winner, is another standout, while home hero and defending champion Robert MacIntyre looks to repeat his emotional 2024 triumph in front of an electric Scottish crowd.
The Tom Doak-designed Renaissance Club delivers classic links golf with coastal winds, natural dunes, and a testing finish, including the dramatic 13th “stadium hole” perched above the Firth of Forth.
The event also offers the final chance to qualify for The Open, with the top three non-exempt finishers securing a place at Royal Portrush.

Who is the favourite to win the Scottish Open?
Scottie Scheffler enters the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open as the 4/1 betting favourite (bet365) and with good reason.
The world No.1 has enjoyed a dominant season, notching three PGA Tour victories, including the PGA Championship, and racking up 11 top-10 finishes in just 14 starts.
His recent T-3 finish at this event in 2023, combined with a game perfectly suited to links golf, thanks to elite ball-striking, control in the wind, and Tour-best approach play, makes him a major threat at The Renaissance Club.

Scottish Open Players
The 2025 Genesis Scottish Open boasts one of the strongest fields in golf this year, featuring all five of the world’s top-ranked players, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, and Collin Morikawa.
Joining them are top-10 stars J.J. Spaun, Sepp Straka, and Ludvig Åberg, rounding out a stacked lineup that rivals any major championship.
The projected Strength of Field is expected to be the second-highest of the season across all tours, behind only The Players and even stronger than The Masters.
Defending champion Robert MacIntyre leads a strong local contingent at The Renaissance Club, a challenging 7,282-yard Tom Doak-designed layout that’s quickly become a fan and player favourite.
This is the fourth consecutive year that the Genesis Scottish Open is co-sanctioned by the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland.
