The Cheltenham Festival has been given another blow as jockey Barry Geraghty has withdrawn due to injury.
Geraghty sustained six broken ribs and a collapsed lung in a heavy fall while on Charli Parcs in the Grade 2 Adonis Hurdle at Kempton on Saturday.
The injuries have forced the Irishman, who was due to mount a number of well fancied horses including Unowhatimeanharry and Yanworth, to withdraw from next month's Cheltenham Festival.
Geraghty told Attheraces.com: "I'm obviously devastated to miss the Festival. There were so many good horses to look forward to as JP's [McManus] team all look in particularly good shape.
"Last night was pretty rough. I've broken ribs individually before but never had six go all at the same time. I'll be in hospital for a few more days but once the lung improves my recovery should be straightforward," added the 37-year-old," added Geraghty.
The news comes after Gold Cup favourite Thistlecrack withdrew on Tuesday due to injury. Following the fall, doctors thought Geraghty would be fit in time for Cheltenham but he is now hoping to be back in time for Aintree in April.
