Altior wins the Arkle in the second race of day one at Cheltenham.
There were no surprises in the Arkle after Labaik won the Supreme, with 1/4f Altior taking home the win with six lengths to spare.
Altior stayed on strongly to give Nicky Henderson a record sixth win in the Arkle Trophy. Given a no-frills ride by Nico De Boinville, the 2016 Supreme winner tracked Charbel throughout the race and was pushing on again when the Kim Bailey-owned horse fell at the penultimate fence.
Altior looked imperious in the home straight and although Cloudy Dreams tried to lay down a challenge it was not enough to usurp the pre-race favourite.
After a handy ride, 25/1 shot Ordinary World was able to take third following Charbel's fall, another nine lengths back.
Winning jockey, De Boinville said after the race:
"You are aware of the expectation, so you just try to do it justice.
"They went a good gallop and it took me a while to get the gears, but after the last he has taken off.
"He travels and jumps, wherever you put him in the race."
