The filly put in a classy performance to land the Cheshire Oaks on the opening day of Chester's May Festival
John Gosden sent out yet another winner of a Classic Trial as his classy filly Enable turned over hot-favourite Alluringly with a smart turn of foot to land the Listed Cheshire Oaks at Chester.
Aidan O'Brien was hoping to complete a hat-trick of succesive victories in the race and his filly was sent off a well-backed Even money favourite after opening at 2/1 over night. However, it was Gosden who added to his previous win in 2010 as Frankie Dettori steered the daughter of Nathanial to an impressive, eased down 1 3/4 length victory.

After the race Dettori stated: "I rode her in the Spring and she has come on. She's beginning to become a race mare and know what she's doing. Today she was always going within herself and she quickened really well to put the race to bed. One thing for sure is she definitely stays, but she's a stayer with a little bit of a turn of foot so she's got plenty to look forward to".
Bookies reacted to her performance by slashing her odds for June's Classic from 25/1 into as short as 7/1 in places (best price 10/1).

Enable's win was also a strong boost for the form of another of Gosden's Oaks hopefuls, Shutter Speed. The 3yo who shares the same owners as Enable, proved much too good for her stable companion at Newbury last month. Cut to a general 6/1 shot after that performance, bookies shortened her again after today's race and she's now as short as 4/1 with some firms.
