We've seen a stream of bets on Crystal Ocean as the horse halves in price since yesterday.
Sir Michael Stoute’s Crystal Ocean has halved in price for the Epsom Derby today. Available at 33/1 yesterday, the horse is now best priced 16/1. Some bookies have cut their odds to as short as 12/1.
Money has poured in for the three-year-old, who was an impressive winner last month at Nottingham. Crystal Ocean failed to cause a ripple in the Derby market when winning that maiden race but punters plunged on the Evelyn de Rothschild-owned colt on Sunday.
The unexposed colt, trained by five-time winning trainer Sir Michael Stoute, has accounted for 49.4% of all stakes on the Derby today and 34.8% of bets.
The favourite for the Derby is Churchill at 11/2 but there are doubts over the 2000 Guineas winner’s participation in the race.
The Dante Stakes on Thursday will be a good marker as Crystal Ocean – now a general 4/1 shot after 7/1 being on offer yesterday - will face off against Cracksman, the current 7/1 third favourite for the Derby.
