Oddschecker users enjoyed a profitable start to the festival on Wednesday with plenty of big-priced winners
Today's action starts with a tough looking 12-runner five furlong handicap in which the field are all all tightly grouped in the market. However, there is one clear pick with Oddschecker punters with David O'Meara's Move In Time the one everyone wants to be on. The 9yo hasn't won since back in 2015 but we've still seen 16% of all bets on the race come for the 11/1 shot, accounting for 18% of all stakes. Also popular is the 7/1 second favourite Orient Class who has attracted 15% of all stakes from 13% of bets.
In the Group 2 Middleton Stakes, the majority of Oddschecker punters will have been disappointed by the news that favourite So Mi Dar will not run as just 40% of all bets on the race were for the John Gosden filly. In her absence, Gosden’s other runner The Black Princess has proven the most popular pick with 30% of bets compared to just 16% for the new favourite Queens Trust. Despite this disparity, both horses have attracted 22% of all money staked.
The betting for the Dante follows a similar pattern to the race that proceeds with another Gosden non-runner dominating the betting in the last 24 hours. Derby hopeful Cracksman was a clear favourite to prove his Classic credentials on the Knavesmire and had attracted 18% of all bets from OC punters before this morning’s news. The punter’s alternative appears to be the Aidan O’Brien-trained Exemplar. The 8/1 chance has received 15% of all bets and 19% of all stakes, well clear of next-best Benbati.
The Listed Hambleton Handicap features one of the best backed horses through Oddschecker in the shape of Here Comes When. Andrew Balding’s 12/1 shot is responsible for 18% of bets placed on the race and 21% of total stakes. In a popular betting heat, another double-figure runner has also attracted plenty of support with Instant Attraction pulling in 11% of all stakes from a 13% share of bets.
More Listed action follows in the next with a small field battling it out over 5f. Brian The Snail is an odds-on favourite for Richard Fahey but has only attracted 28% of bets compared to second favourite Ardad who has raked in 46%.
A tough maiden is up next and it’s one Oddschecker punters have chosen to swerve. Only a low number of small stakes have been placed with VJ Day (4/1) and Zap (6/1) the two to have received most attention.
Punters have taken more of an interest in the concluding 2m handicap with Buonarroti (17%) and Blue Hussar (15%) topping the list. There has however been a number of large bets on the 7/2 favourite Graceland, meaning the Michael Bell runner is responsible for 20% of total stakes.
