The John Gosden colt ran out a ready winner of the Group One on the downs
John Gosden pulled off a shrewd move to win the Goodwood Cup with his promising 3yo stayer. In receipt of a hefty 3yo allowance, the son of Sea The Stars eased clear of the The Big Orange in classy style to cruise to success in the Group One.
Bookmakers reacted swiftly to his performance, installing him as the joint-favourite for the final classic of the season at Doncaster in September. No bigger than 12/1 this morning, he has now more than halved in price to as short as 7/2 with some firms.
Speaking after the race Gosden said: "The people adore these races, they are fabulous to watch and we must remember that our Classic races are run over a mile and a half." The master trainer also confirmed the Leger remains the aim for the improving three-year-old in over a month's time.
