A round-up of the most popular horses across the UK and Ire this morning
The first of today’s movers comes in the 14.30 at Sedgefield where BETANCOURT has been backed at fancy prices. Still yet to win from any of his seven starts, he is yet to place over hurdles and was beaten 36 lengths last time out at Uttoxeter back in July. Today’s race looks particularly uncompetitive with only one runner having won in any of their last seven starts. The each-way thieves look to have been out in force however and the 16/1 on offer last night is now as short and 7/1 with some firms (best price 10/1).
Over at Tipperary and their concluding 17.30, CALIPTON is the one to have been backed this morning. A point-to-point winner on heavy ground, the five-year-old showed glimpses of potential in a bumper and over hurdles back in December. Improvement is obviously expected following that break with the 4/1 of this morning now 13/8 with some firms (best price 2/1).
At Kempton this evening, Arce winning trainer John Gosden runs market mover SOGHAN in the 19.10 maiden. Sent off at just 7/2 on debut at the same venue 314 days ago, he was comprehensively beaten by 17 lengths and has not been seen since. However, it looks as though he is set to leave that run well behind and put in a stronger showing today with punters lapping up the 8/1 available this morning with one firm now only 4/1 (best price 11/2).
In Kempton’s finale this evening FREE FORUM is a well-backed favourite for David Simcock. A winner of one of his six runs to date, he’s continued to improve on his last two runnings including when placed over course and distance last time out. Originally a 5/1 when the market first formed, he’s now a strong 11/4 favourite across the board.
