Friday's Horse Racing Market Movers

A quick round-up of this morning's best-backed horses across the UK and IRE

In Fontwell’s opening Juvenile Hurdle there has been a significant move for Gary Moore’s SUSSEX RANGER. The three-year-old won once from nine starts on the flat and represents a yard that has won this race twice in the last four runnings. As big as 11/2 this morning, the constant support has forced bookies to slash his odds to as short as 7/2 (best price 5/2).

There have been two horses well backed in the 16.30 at the same track. Both WIZARDS BIRDGE and VELVET COGNAC have seen their odds tumble following a flood of bets. The latter is still yet to win under rules from his eight starts and finished fourth of five beaten 19 lengths last time out at Hexham. Despite those lacklustre efforts of late, today appears to be the day where much more is expected with the 28/1 on offer initially now only 5/1 (best price 13/2). Wizards Bridge meanwhile has not run for 172 days but the market suggests that won’t prove a problem. 3/1 on first showing last night the eight-year-old is now the clear favourite and 13/8 with some firms (best price 15/8)

At Chelmsford this evening CENTRAL CITY is a strong favourite in the 6f Nursery. A winner of tonight’s trip on the all-weather surface at Wolverhampton, he disappointed at Yarmouth on his latest outing finishing last of six runners when sent off at only 7/2. The market vibes suggest he will bounce back from that effort with punters snapping up the 11/2 on offer last night with most firms now offering just 9/4 (best price 11/4).
