A quick round-up of which horses have been popular with punters so far today
First up today over at Gowran Park INSCRIBE has been backed into favouritism for the Ger Lyons Colin Keane combination. The three-year-old is yet to place from any of his three starts to date, beaten a combination of 36 lengths. Making his handicap debut off a mark of 69, he carries top weight in race with only two previous winners in the 16-strong field. 11/2 on first showing with some firms last night, he’s now as short as 13/8 (best price 7/4).
In Ludlow’s 2m handicap hurdle (15.30) BEALLANDENDALL has been popular at big prices all morning. One of two course and distance winners in the field, that victory was 14 starts ago and is his only victory to date from 19 career starts. Well beaten 12 days ago when eight of nine at Worcester, more is obviously expected of the nine-year-old today. 25/1 in places last night, some firms are now as short as 7/1 (best price 8/1).
Over at Nottingham and MIKMAK has seen his odds for the 15.50 tumble from double-figure prices this morning. The market has been affected by original favourite Dragons Voice pulling out but the move for William Muir’s four-year-old still looks significant. A winner of just one of 21 starts he has been well beaten on each of his last three runs. It appears he is expected to bounce back to some sort of form today with the 16/1 of last night now 7/2 with one firm (best price 5/1).
Finally in Nottingham’s finale, QUIDS IN is the new favourite after morning support. Oliver Greenall’s four-year-old was last seen over hurdles back in April and was a winner of obstacles in February. His last run on the flat was almost a year ago over in Ireland where he was beaten eight lengths into ninth place. Despite his poor strike rate of one win from 14 starts, he’s been backed to get off the mark on the flat today with the 11/1 of this morning now 9/2 in places (best price 11/2).
