Nigel Twiston-Davies' eight-year-old is ante-post favourite for the Grand National in April
Market support for Becher Chase favourite Blaklion has gained further momentum this week with Oddschecker punters continuing to pile in on the 7/2 favourite.
Last seen finishing a narrow second to subsequent Betfair Chase winner and stable companion Bristol De Mai in the Charlie Hall Chase, the constant stream of support for Saturday’s race has seen his odds continue to be cut. As big as 7/1 just a matter of weeks ago, the performance of Bristol De Mai at Haydock has clearly given punters confidence with bookies now as short as 11/4.
Over the last seven days, 54.23% of all bets on the market have been on the Twiston-Davies favourite, well clear of Highland Lodge in second with just 9.15%.
Another horse who has been shortened in the market is Gas Line Boy for trainer Ian Williams. The 11-year-old finished just one place behind Blaklion in last season’s Grand National (although beaten 8 lengths) and bookmakers have cut him in from 12/1 just last week to as short as 17/2 (best price 10/1) for Saturday's race.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: "Blaklion's form line was boosted with Bristol de Mai's win and the money shows no sign of stopping. With well over half the bets placed on him, that 7/2 could well be a distant memory soon enough."
