The former UAE Derby winner has been off the track since November 2014
Jamie Osborne’s former stable star returns to racing on Wednesday, three years after being beaten a nose in the Breeders’ Cup Classic. Now a six-year-old, the son of Thewayyourare began his incredible rise up the rankings with a 12 length maiden success at Wolverhampton. That performance came after being beaten at Leicester and Kempton on his first two starts at odds of 66/1 and 4/1.
From there he went on to win a Novice Stakes at Wolverhampton by 16 lengths before landing the UAE Derby and a first prize of over £720,000 over in Meydan. The fairy tale was almost completed on what turned out to be his final start, but he was just denied by the smallest of margins by multiple Grade 1 winner Bayern.
Purchased by Al Shaqab racing ahead of an intended shot at Dubai World Cup success, a subsequent tendon injury meant he was sent to stud in Qatar. However, after a mixed bag of results in which he failed to attract a full book of mares, he has been sent back to Osborne to resume his racing career.

He has been priced up at 4/5 on first show by Bet365 for Wednesday's race.
Oddschecker spokesperson Georeg Elek: “A Wednesday all-weather meeting at Lingfield Park would normally be a fairly run-of-the-mill affair, but the racecourse return of Toast of New York will have all eyes on the Surrey track. He is one of the most popular flat horses in recent times, and we can probably expect some market support for the Jamie Osborne trained colt.”
