Masar blew away his field today in the Craven Stakes at Newmarket.
MASAR destroyed the field in the bet365 Craven Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday and he has been heavily backed to go on and win the 2000 Guineas.
Currently best priced at 7-1, this three-year-old was as big as 33/1 for the Guineas prior to his race earlier today but his explosive turn of foot turned quite a few heads.
Since the end of the race, Masar has received an enormous 82% of all bets to go on and land the prestigious prize. He would be the first horse in fourteen years to win the Craven Stakes and the 2000 Guineas but punters believe they witnessed something special.
Trainer Appleby remained calm by Masar’s performance but recognised his raw talent: “On what we have seen out there he is going to be a big contender. He is a live shot.
He was 100% fit, there was no doubt about that. I’m not going over the top by what he did today.”
Oddschecker spokesman George Elek: “What a performance we saw today from Masar, I’m not sure anyone was quite expecting that.
Clearly his odds have been drastically shortened but it will take an incredible performance to land both the Craven Stakes and the Guineas.”
