Crystal Hope outshone by Haggas’ two-year-old today at Newbury.
SEA OF CLASS won the Haras De Bouquetot Fillies’ Trial today at Newbury and has had her odds slashed to win the Oaks.
Yesterday, you could have backed a massive 66-1 for William Haggas’ horse to prevail in the Oaks but with just one run under his belt, it would have been a brave bet to have.
Now those odds are merely a distant memory, and the three-year-old is now as short as 7-1 after comfortably winning today at Newbury.
All the talk was around Crystal Hope, who in fact drifted to 2-1 and wasn’t able to place. Sea Of Class had only one run under her belt when she finished second at Newmarket but drastically improved to land the prize today.
Maureen Haggas was overwhelmed with the win today but kept her cards close to her chest. “This filly is still short on experience but she’s got speed and she can stay. It’s a nice problem to have knowing where to run her next.”
Oddschecker spokesman George Elek: “We are yet to hear from William but his wife was mightily impressed, as were we, with Sea Of Class today.
The drastic decision from the bookies to shorten her odds for the Oaks does suggest she is more than likely to go. Her speed was quite simply frightening today.”
