It was Pretty Pollyanna that dominated a lot of the headlines before today’s Cheveley Park Stakes, but now the name that is on everyone’s lips is Fairyland, another Aidan O’Brien stunner in the making.
The young filly held off the challenge of the Mackem Bullet to score well and Donnacha O’Brien thinks that the two-year-old will stay further than the 6f on offer today.

The bookies are certainly in agreement, as Fairyland is now the favourite in many circles for next year’s 1000 Guineas.
This morning’s 25/1 odds are a thing of the past, as one bookie has cut her price all the way down to 10/1, putting her above the likes of Skitter Scatter and Just Wonderful.
A best price of 16/1 is available, but this price may not be around for long, with 14s and 12s being the price most commonly available.
On the flipside, Pretty Pollyanna is on the drift and is now 16/1 best price, although one bookie has kept the faith and kept her the 8/1 favourite.
Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: “Fairyland sprinkled some stardust in the Cheveley Park Stakes as she held off the rest to become a Group 1 winner. Some bookies have her the favourite for next year’s 1000 Guineas and with the O’Brien’s in charge, there’s every chance she can get the job done at Newmarket again next year.”
