Anthony Van Dyck favourite for Juvenile Turf but not favourite amongst punters

Ryan Moore and Aidan O’Brien team up once again as the pair look for a fifth success in this race.

When it comes to the Juvenile Turf at Churchill Downs, no two people succeed as much as Ryan Moore and Aidan O’Brien. The duo have won four times previously (most recently with Mendelssohn last year) and their hopes rest on Anthony Van Dyck this time around.

The two-year-old could be primed for the 2000 Guineas next year (Currently a 20/1 shot) and/or the Derby (12/1 second favourite), but all focus right now is on Churchill Downs, where he is the current betting favourite, at 11/4 best price.

It looks like it could be a good battle between Van Dyck and Line Of Duty (4/1 best price); with Charlie Appleby’s Colt getting a fraction more love from Oddschecker punters than the former.

A quarter of all bets have gone on Line Of Duty, with 22% on Anthony Van Dyck. Line Of Duty is the form horse going into the race, looking for a hat-trick. Although Van Dyck was not disgraced in his last two races, particularly in the Dewhurst, where he came up just short against Too Darn Hot.

Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: “Anthony Van Dyck is the horse that Moore & O’Brien pin their hopes on for a potential fifth Juvenile Turf. Currently the betting favourite, he could be the one to beat, but Oddschecker punters are siding with Charlie Appleby’s Line Of Duty. It promises to be a great race!
