After taking a tumble last time out, punters are steering clear of the six-year-old’s short price.
Gordon Elliot’s superstar hurdler Samcro is as short as 1/5 on his return at Down Royal today, and punters are looking elsewhere for the value.
The Ballymore Novice Hurdle winner will run for the first time since April, where a fall at Punchestown put a dent in his unbeaten record.
4/1 second favourite, Sharjah, is preferred at the prices. In the last 24 hours, 88.1% of stakes have gone on the Willie Mullins-trained gelding, with just 7.7% on Samcro.
Oddschecker spokesman, George Elek: ‘No one can question Samcro’s talent, but he has not been seen on a race track for seven months, where he lost is unbeaten record.
Whilst Gordon Elliot’s horse may well go on and win this race easily, it would be foolhardy to place your hard earned cash on Gordon Elliot’s hurdler at such a short price.’
