Favourite Might Bite is on the drift whilst his rivals shorten for the Boxing Day showpiece.
It was a hugely entertaining afternoon of racing and Might Bite’s poor performance in the Betfair Hurdle has seen him drift to 4/1 for the King George, with Politologue slashed to 12/1 after holding on to win at Ascot.
Politologue travels into the contest beautifully but still has to fend off Charbel after some tight fencing in the latter stages of the Christy 1965 Chase.

How would the winner fare in a King George on the back of that display? https://t.co/yooymOtYbQ pic.twitter.com/Lx97IvrSqW
One horse who really staked his claims was Bristol De Mai, who was well clear of Might Bite when winning again at Haydock. He sees his odds heavily slashed from 25/1 to as short as 15/2 for Boxing Day glory, with a best price of 10/1 available.
He's stunning around here!

Bristol De Mai dispels all myths that he needs it soft with a fantastic win in the Betfair Chase!https://t.co/7iJOPsdIyZ pic.twitter.com/EYkZhC65kR
Thistlecrack had a very game race finishing third, and the 2016 King George winner has been cut as short as 8/1 after being available at 33/1 earlier this morning.
Gold Cup winner Native River was 10/1 best price but is now 8/1 best price after a good showing in a quality-packed race.
Any horse with eyes on the Kempton prize will be buoyed by Might Bite’s misfire and punters may have slightly burnt fingers if they took the small 2/1 price floating around earlier in the day. Since the Betfair Chase, he has only attracted 7% of total bets in the King George market, with Thistlecrack the surprise frontrunner with 42% of bets.
Bristol De Mai is second most popular with 30% of the bets, as the seven-year-old is 40/1 to land the much vaunted Triple Crown.
Oddschecker spokesman, George Elek: 'All the talk of Might Bite being the next superstar chaser has proved to be premature and it is Bristol De Mai who is the talk of the town after a majestic showing.
However, Haydock is a happy hunting ground for Nigel Twiston-Davies' dual Betfair Chase winner and the King George will be a completely different test - he finished 26 lengths behind Might Bite in the Kempton race last year.'
